Endometriosis is a non-malignant yet progressive and invasive disease of female pelvis. The characteristics of this disease are variable degrees of pelvic pain compromising quality of life, subfertility and a notorious capacity to recur even after extensive surgery. The number of sufferers from endometriosis is increasing globally and rapidly, presumably due to changes in the environmental and our habits. India, contrary to the popular belief, is no exception. Endometriosis Society India, established in 2003, is a non-profitable voluntary organisation dedicated to create awareness about this enigmatic disease amongst the medical fraternity and people, especially women at teens and reproductive ages; to conduct research activities related to endometriosis.
